PUBLIC TOILETS
Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council is pleased to confirm temporary toilets facilities have been installed at Pajinka (Northern most tip of mainland Australia), Somerset campground and Muttee Head.
The temporary toilets have been installed for the convenience of visitors to the area and to reduce the environmental and visual impact on the area from human activity.
Council has developed a schedule to pump out and clean the toilets and replace toilet paper. Visitors are asked to provide their own toilet paper where possible and also report any issues with the toilets to the NPARC office in Bamaga.
Council has arranged for a permanent toilet facility to be constructed at the Somerset campground. The Somerset toilet is expected to be operational in late July 2021. Work to install concrete foundations, septic and water tanks and other construction activities is not expected to affect access to the campground. However, visitors are asked to be aware of potential traffic hazards and the need for an area of the camp ground to be cordoned off.
Council is also working towards the installation of permanent toilet facilities at Pajinka and Muttee Head, with these facilities expected to be completed before May 2022.
