Roads and Traffic
The Cape York Peninsula, north of the Jardine River, covers an area of approximately 137,000 square kilometers. Most roads are unsealed, requiring regular maintenance to keep them in good condition. The roads between the communities of Injinoo, Umagico, Bamaga, New Mapoon and Seisia are all sealed roads.
During the Wet season roads to the south are cut, due to rising water levels.
Engineering Services provides roadworks and construction, as well as development and maintenance of boat ramps and car parks associated with boat ramps and the port at Seisa. Engineering Services looks after 482.62km of roads / tracks in the NPA.
