Queensland Health recently conducted a very successful spray program in response to an unusual mosquito species detected in NPA.

Constant surveillance showed no signs of the detected species - with a low rate of mozzie detection overall.

However – as a precaution - QLD Health will continue mozzie spraying this week – from Wednesday 13/5/26 - for an intense week of spraying around NPA, starting in Bamaga – and continuing to all communities.

Next Step:

To ensure effectiveness of this program the NPARC Regulatory team will be assisting the mozzie team with the precautionary spraying activities during 13 May to 21 May.

What community can do?

• Work with our team to gain access to properties - to eradicate any potential mozzies.

• Ensure your dogs are restrained and it is safe for the teams to get in yards.

• Be sure to cover up exposed skin when outside in the garden & empty any water lying around yards, where mozzies can live or breed ...
